Salary: 78,000 - 88,000

Position Summary:

The Associate Philanthropic Advisor serves as a key relationship manager, responsible for managing a large portfolio of transactional donor advised fund holders and other donors with the goal of developing and deepening the Donor Advised Fund holder and donor relationships with the Trust, ensuring that we support their philanthropic goals.

Portfolio management requires strategy development at all levels and ensuring that the donor is engaged appropriately for their interests. The Associate Philanthropic Advisor is responsible for discerning when it is possible to engage donors with Trust priorities. The Associate Philanthropic Advisor involves delivering exceptional service and comprehensive philanthropic guidance, assisting with contributions and grantmaking, and addressing fund-related inquiries to ensure a positive donor experience. The successful candidate will have acute perception when speaking to/engaging with donors and advisors to assess when additional philanthropic services capabilities are warranted.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the relationship manager for a large portfolio of funds that are primarily transactional in nature but who could develop into more Trust-oriented relationships, serving as the primary point of contact to deliver exceptional customer service. The Philanthropy Associate will collaborate with their supervisor or a Philanthropic Advisor on complex donor inquiries, seeking guidance and support as needed.
  • Manage donor relationships within our organization CRM (Salesforce).
  • In partnership with other Trust departments such as Community Impact, Finance, Learning & Impact, and Grants Management, provide support to the donors and advisors affiliated with funds in the assigned portfolio, including new fund orientations, administrative oversight, grant making facilitation, grant compliance, and inquiries related to online access and fund statements.
  • Assist in executing strategies to enhance donor engagement through events, communications, and community activities.
  • Assess when the interests and needs of donors in assigned portfolio rise to a need for higher level of philanthropic services from Philanthropic Services colleagues.
  • Work in a team environment, taking ownership for assigned portfolio while understanding the full array of philanthropic services offerings as well as the strengths and capabilities of team members.
  • Uphold and exemplify the Trust's core values in all interactions, ensuring professionalism, integrity and a commitment to the mission.
  • Work in an office setting, connecting with assigned donors primarily via phone and email.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills
Position Qualifications:
  • B.A./B.S. Degree or work equivalent
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in philanthropy, donor relations, fundraising or nonprofit engagement
  • Excellent verbal/written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Database experience and Microsoft Office proficiency required
  • Prior experience providing excellent customer service in an environment serving clients and/or high-net worth individuals
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and manage multiple competing assignments, responsibilities, and internal and external projects
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and proactively interact, communicate and collaborate on multidisciplinary teams and with people from cultural backgrounds other than your own
  • Confidence and competence in learning and using existing and new technologies
