Job Description

The State Forest Outdoor Recreational Program Specialist will oversee and manage outdoor recreation across 16 state forests spanning 172,375 acres. The role involves collaborating with agencies, developing recreational plans, and engaging stakeholders to balance recreational activities with natural resource management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with state, federal, and local agencies, as well as non-profit organizations.
• Develop and implement permitting structures for outdoor recreational activities.
• Create and present detailed reports on projects and initiatives.
• Utilize GIS tools to map designated recreational areas.
• Educate stakeholders on the Division of Forestry's mission and its interaction with recreation.
• Develop an outdoor recreation strategic plan for state forests.
• Work with leadership to allocate funding for recreational projects.
