In this dynamic role, you will provide mentorship, safety, structure, and support to youth in a secure facility helping guide them toward a better path. As a Juvenile Detention Officer, you will do more than maintain order you will serve as a role model, coach, and advocate for positive change. From leading group activities and providing counseling, to ensuring safety and assisting with court processes, you will be part of a team that plays a vital role in shaping futures and building safer communities.

What Youll Do:

  • Supervise and guide youth in a safe, secure, and respectful environment
  • Facilitate educational, recreational, and personal development activities
  • Collaborate with justice partners, families, and treatment providers
  • Respond to crises with professionalism and compassion
  • Monitor safety, conduct intake screenings, and maintain detailed documentation
  • Support youth through positive interactions, teaching social and life skills

Do You Have What It Takes?

  • High school diploma required; degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Ability to complete POST-certified Juvenile Detention Officer training within one year
  • Valid drivers license and ability to pass background checks
  • CPR/First Aid and other safety certifications or ability to obtain
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
