Just south of the Canadian border, this trail begins in one of the largest tracts of intact old-growth forest in the Pacific Northwest. This three-day project will take us to American Falls, located at the northern terminus of the Idaho Centennial Trail, which stretches about 1,000 miles. We'll hike down the Continental Trail #28, then perform bridge repair, rock work, tread maintenance, and other tasks on Trails #308 and #28. This remote area of the Idaho Panhandle is home to endangered species like the grizzly bear and woodland caribou, along with black bears, deer, moose, and mountain goats. The project offers stunning views, including a 40-foot cascade at American Falls, which marks the river's entrance into the United States.
