This is a remote position. We are looking for candidates in the USA or Canada only.

What are we doing?

Grafana continues to be a highly successful open-source project, with over a million instances of our application running in the wild. Grafana is also the main frontend for Grafana Cloud where users can visualize their telemetry data and use our opinionated solutions for easier troubleshooting of their infrastructure and applications.

As our Cloud / Grafana-as-a-service business continues to grow, we've started to change Grafana's core architecture to be fully multi-tenant and scalable, as well as a solid platform for our opinionated Cloud apps.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with extensive experience with SaaS platforms at scale. We are transforming Grafana into a comprehensive observability app platform where OSS and proprietary apps can directly access dashboards, alerts, incidents, and telemetry, delivering more integrated experiences.

To achieve this, we need to refactor a significant part of Grafana to make it simpler and standardized. Since Grafana is used by numerous OSS and Cloud users across various platforms, planning and executing changes safely to prevent service disruptions is crucial; we seek someone enthusiastic about this work.

Requirements:

• You possess strong coding skills and operational experience; you have been responsible for operating the software you developed.
• You have worked on a SaaS platform and addressed common distributed systems challenges (e.g., scalability, multi-tenancy, data isolation, high availability).
• You have excellent communication skills, able to clearly articulate ideas both in writing and verbally. You know when to choose the appropriate communication mode.
• You are willing to collaborate across teams, aligning your work with the needs of other squads and external stakeholders. You make your plans transparent, involve stakeholders, and welcome feedback.
• You are pragmatic, prioritizing progress over perfection, and comfortable handling ambiguity.
• We use Golang on the backend; you are either already familiar with Golang or eager to learn it.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Coding new features, improving operational aspects of systems you develop, and iteratively enhancing them based on production insights.
• Authoring, reviewing, and contributing to design documents.
• Participating actively in shaping the product roadmap.
• Mentoring and supporting team members and collaborating with other teams across the organization.
• Owning the customer experience by participating in on-call rotations, including weekday 12h x 5d and weekend 24h x 2d shifts.

In the USA, the base salary range for this role is USD 168,000 - USD 210,000. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, level, and skills assessed during the interview. Benefits include equity, bonuses (if applicable), and other listed perks.
