We're seeking a Cadastral Mapping Specialist I to join our Land Records Division. Under the guidance of experienced managers and lead workers, you'll play a key role in interpreting legal documents, maintaining digital assessment maps, and ensuring the integrity of our geographic boundary data.

Do You Have What It Takes?

We're looking for someone with:

  • An associate degree or certification in Computer Information Technology, Surveying, Cartography, GIS, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience with cadastral mapping or similar technical mapping work.
  • Strong analytical, research, and technical skills.
  • Familiarity with Idaho property assessment laws is a plus.
  • A passion for accuracy and public service.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with GIS tools and land mapping software.
  • Understanding of legal land descriptions and property boundary law.
  • Solid communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret subdivision plats, deeds, and survey data.

Certification Requirements (Training provided as part of the role)

  • Completion of STC Appraisal Course 1 within 12 months of hire
  • STC Cadastral Mapping Certification within 3 years
  • Ongoing continuing education (minimum of 32 STC-approved CE credit hours every two years)

What You Would Do:

  • Creating and maintaining digital assessment maps and GIS datasets.
  • Interpreting legal property documents and updating parcel boundaries.
  • Processing recorded subdivision plats, splits, merges, and ownership changes.
  • Conducting legal research and applying findings to correct land records.
  • Performing calculations for parcel area, boundaries, and valuation proration.
  • Assisting internal teams and the public with mapping and land record questions.
