CNA position summary: The Certified Nursing Assistant performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.Responsibilities:Works with the patient's physical, motor/sensory adaptation, cognitive, and psychological needs specific to the population being served and meets standards of quality as measured by the unit/department age specific competency standards. Responsibilities: Performs medical screening, including vital signs, for all admitted clientsGathers and documents patient informationStores client medications and offers at scheduled timesPerforms blood glucose monitoring by fingerstick if indicatedPerforms breathalyzer test for clients who appear intoxicatedAdministers Narcan per policyContinually monitors patient medical status during admissionProvides basic first aid as requiredResponds to any medical emergency that occurs at the center and calls for appropriate assistanceRelies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsRegular and predictable attendance is an essential job functionPerforms other related duties as assignedCompetent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned Requirements and Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED preferredCompletion of Emergency Medical Technician program requiredCurrent Emergency Medical Technician certification from an approved institution requiredMinimum 2 years' experience in a healthcare setting or in the field as an EMT preferredKnowledge of spelling and medical terminology preferredBLS required.
