Answers the telephone to receive menu orders for patient meals using the room service software and the hospital wide order entry software to process patient meals, snacks and oral nutrition supplements according to their dietary needs and/or food allergies. Uses allergy clarification flow chart, appropriate scripting and questioning and knowledge from training and diet classes to assure compliance to diet order and any food allergies during meal ordering process. Understands the role of dietitian in allergies and alerts dietitian to needed changes for allergies in the EMR. Works with patients to coach them in selecting viable options when diet compliances are encountered to the initial menu item selected. Whenever possible finding a solution that leaves the patient satisfied and having necessary information to make positive choices with food selections.
